He finally proposes, and you said “YES!”.
Sometimes the thought of planning a wedding and dress shopping sounds daunting, that’s understandable. Now as experts in the field, we try our best to make our appointments go as easy as possible for the bride. We do realize that sometimes brides can’t help but be nervous when trying on bridal wear, so fret not! We have sat down with one of our recent Pure Brides who visited our bridal shop in the west end of Edmonton to answer some common questions brides have when they begin shopping.
One of our Pure Bride, Nancy, is hoping to tie the knot this upcoming Spring in beautiful Whistler and here’s what she had to say:
What was your first initial thought going into dress shopping?
I was excited and nervous all at the same time. Nervous that the dress I envisioned was going to look awful. Terrified that I would be going over my budget but absolutely excited to feel like a bride! Dress shopping and wedding dress shopping are two different things. I love wedding dress shopping over party dress shopping.
In your opinion, would having a big entourage be helpful throughout your search?
In my opinion, the smaller the entourage the better. Initially, at the end of the day – you are the one wearing this dress all day and looking back on your pictures and remembering your special day.
What was your biggest concern before you started shopping?
The price tag. I knew I had a lower budget and was nervous that I would not find everything I wanted in a dress that is within my budget. So I tried to keep all my options open, my consultant was wonderful in giving me different options that would cater to my budget and in the end I was able to find the perfect dress within my budget!
How much pressure did you feel on finding “the one”?
There was no pressure on finding the one. You just know when you look in the mirror that this is THE DRESS. Don’t think or question too much about it. That creates more chaos and anxiety in your journey.
Was there anything you wish you knew before going into your first appointment at a bridal shop?
Which type of undergarments you should wear. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STICKY BRAS. But not any sticky bras. The NuBra is literally a magic bra. You can purchase these at the gallery, so worth it!
How did you know that you have found “the one”? What was the feeling you had?
I knew I found the ONE when I looked at myself in the mirror. I just felt so beautiful in the dress. When my consultant asked me how do you feel in the dress, tears started falling down. I just couldn’t find the words. She added on a veil and handed me a bouquet. Bam! More of the water works came. To have idea of a dress you are looking for come true is a surreal feeling. You don’t want to take the dress off. You just know when you have found the ONE.
What advice would you give brides who are stuck between two favourite dresses?
BUY BOTH. If you can’t, I would try them on once more. Be in the moment and think about how you feel in the dress. You will always love one more than the other.
For a bride who is nervous about starting to look into dress, what advice would you give them?
Start looking on Pinterest. Get an idea of what you like and show your consultant. But still be open minded to the different options. They are in this industry they can funnel out what dresses to show you and what not to show you. As experts, they will know best what will look good on you and what doesn’t. It is absolutely difficult to pick out dresses off the hanger or off model pictures because every person and body is different. Working with a consultant you trust makes a huge difference. Also make sure you know what your price point is.
For our sake, how did you feel with the service you have receive in our store and with our expert?
Amazing! I felt like I was looked after. I did not feel any pressure to buy a dress. The girls are very honest and genuinely happy for you when you find THE ONE. I would highly recommend Pure Bridal and Cyndy. I am so glad I made the trip from Vancouver to have such a wonderful experience.
